Islands

Islands

From my base on the edge of the largest island in Europe, I’m often drawn to other islands.

It’s thrilling to explore different shores. As a keen swimmer, scuba diver, beachcomber, wildlife-watcher and photographer, I love coastal regions, with their opportunistic wildlife and ever-changing light. If I can island-hop by ferry, so much the better.

Above all, I’m fascinated by the unique scenery, ecosystems and traditions that islands so often contain, from the fragile, biodiversity-rich forests of Madagascar and musical heritage of Cape Verde to the geothermal swimming pools of the Azores.
